Gov. Ned Lamont issued a statement responding to President Trump’s State of the Union address. He said the president’s optimistic view of the economy did not match what families are experiencing.
Lamont said the rising cost of living “remains the biggest challenge facing working families.” He said the administration’s tariffs and health care policies “have driven up the cost of groceries, housing, energy and insurance.”
Lamont said families need stability and real economic relief. “Families and businesses need stability they can count on,” he said. He added that leadership should focus on lowering costs and strengthening economic opportunity, which he described as “the hallmark of how we govern in Connecticut.”
