Legendary players from the New York Knicks hosted a free clinic to celebrate the newly renovated basketball court at a Roosevelt park Tuesday.
The Knicks teamed up with Chase Bank to donate $25,000 to refurbish the court at the Reverend Arthur Mackey Senior Park. The old court had been dilapidated for years.
The court was resurfaced and painted in orange and blue -- the Knicks' colors. New backboards and padding to all of the poles were also added.
Former Knicks player Larry Johnson says the donation is an investment in the future of Roosevelt's kids. Former Knicks player John Wallace says it's all about boosting confidence and lifting spirits.
The community members are grateful for the new court and say the Knicks are an inspiration.
The donation is part of the Basketball in the Boroughs and Beyond program.
The Knicks also host free basketball clinics as part of a program to bring the game to kids in at-risk communities.
