Suffolk County police are investigating after Ku Klux Klan recruitment fliers were found on cars in Patchogue.
According to police, the fliers were found around 2 a.m. Thursday in a municipal lot off Main Street.
Citing the KKK fliers and a swastika found on a subway train Thursday morning, Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued a press release referring to the election of Donald Trump.
"I call on all public officials, of all parties, and indeed, all people everywhere, to denounce and repudiate these expressions, and to pledge to punish to the full extent of the law anyone engaged in such acts," the statement reads. "To remain silent is to engage in a dangerous new permissiveness that threatens our American way."
Suffolk police say the fliers were handed over to the Hate Crimes Unit, and that they contain no criminality.
President-elect Trump is still being praised on the KKK's website -- his picture visible front and center -- but Trump and his campaign have denounced any and all support the group has given him.
Earlier this year, KKK fliers were found scattered on lawns and on cars at the nearby Patchogue LIRR station. KKK business cards were also found at an East Patchogue CVS pharmacy this year.
