Long Islanders are heading to the polls Tuesday to decide a host of hot races across the Island and the state.
One of those local races is in the national spotlight -- the battle for the 3rd Congressional District seat between incumbent Rep. Pete King (R-NY) and challenger Leg. Dave Mejias (D-Farmingdale). Both candidates voted in their hometowns, King in Seaford and Mejias in Farmingdale.
King claims he is getting a solid response from voters concerning what he stands for -- fighting illegal immigration, standing up for homeland security and being tough on terrorism. Meanwhile, Mejias says his supporters are angry about President Bush's failed policies in Iraq, and how King has approved of the president and his policies.
