KinderCare in Manhasset sent an email to parents affected by its abrupt reduction in enrollment Monday night saying that it would welcome all families back on Monday, Feb. 26.
KinderCare abruptly reduced its enrollment due to staffing shortages.
The letter says in part that the day care has been actively working on hiring new teachers and working with state licensing to speed up the process of expanding the enrollment.
The day care's district leader sent some families a message on Thursday which said, "After careful consideration, my manager and I made the difficult decision to reduce the number of children we care for at our Manhasset center. I'm sorry to tell you that as of Monday, February 5th, we won't be able to care for your child."
Parents were stunned after only receiving a few days' notice.
After the latest letter from the day care, parents say they "are skeptical that the new staff being hired and onboarded will stay long term."
