A South Bronx organization is showing children who have led troubled lives how to help children in similar circumstances.
Kids Helping Kids, located on Southern Boulevard near 149th Street, has been working for the past 25 years to improve the lives of children and women in the community.
Children and young adults from the ages of 14 to 21 mentor other children. The focus is on tutoring, planning trips and keeping mentees on a path to success.
"It's the next generation saying that they're going to really pitch in and assure that younger kids have support, encouragement and inspiration to overcome these challenges," said a woman who works with Kids Helping Kids.
The organization held its Kwanzaa celebration Tuesday.
