We are halfway through January. Have you kept up with your New Year’s Resolution? If fitness is top of your list, we have tips from a trainer at Planet Fitness on how to stick with your goals and not give up.

“It’s so easy to say, ‘I don't want to do it today. I'll do it tomorrow.’ But that is where the mental toughness comes in. I think when you put your mind to it, it becomes a whole lot easier to go after,” says Moses Champ Jr, Fitness trainer at Planet Fitness.

Champ, Jr. has been a fitness trainer for nine years and knows how to start a healthy and realistic fitness journey.

‘"I would say a lot of core workouts, more body weight,” says Champ, “I chose body weight because it wakes the body up. It's more functional and easier to do. You can do it in the gym or at home. "

The mayo clinic says to start a fitness plan that doesn't make you feel overwhelmed. The clinic also says to plan and pace yourself to make this a sustainable habit..

“If you build a good routine...I say if you start out 2-3x a week and stick with that. Iit does become a lot easier,” says Champ Jr. "A lot of people try to ego lift. They see the big guys and think they should be lifting more. Take your time, start off slow and build."
