Justice – a popular chain store among young girls – has pulled a bronzer product from its shelves pending an investigation into claims it contains asbestos.
Reporters at an ABC affiliate in North Carolina sent samples of Just Shine Shimmer Powder to a lab to see if it contained any non-listed ingredients. They say their investigation showed asbestos and some other toxic heavy metals.
In addition to pulling the product, Justice has also released a statement that says in part, "Upon receiving an inquiry about the Just Shine Shimmer Powder product, we immediately began an investigation and, out of an abundance of caution, stopped the sale of this product in our stores and on our website."
Exposure to asbestos can lead to lung disease, some cancers or tumors.
There are multiple Justice locations throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
