Tuesday marked the second day of deliberations in the murder trial of a former Marine accused of killing a young mother from Medford.

As News 12 has reported, Dante Taylor is facing first- and second-degree murder charges.

Prosecutors say the 21-year-old Mastic man dragged Sarah Goode into the woods, raped her and stabbed her more than 40 times in June 2014.

Friends and family searched for days to find Goode. She was later found face down in the woods.

Taylor's defense attorney, John Lewis Jr., says the two had consensual sex and that someone else must have attacked Goode.

The jury in this case also has to contend with the fact that the prosecution has been sanctioned by Judge John Collins five times for failing to turn over all evidence that may be favorable to the defense, which it must do according to law.

The jury is expected to resume deliberations on Thursday.
