Troy "T.J." Harrelson, son of former Mets player Bud Harrelson, pleaded guilty Tuesday to his role in the cover-up of the Hauppauge samurai sword murder two years ago.
In exchange for his testimony against Zachary Gibian, who was found guilty of nearly decapitating his stepfather, Harrelson received a plea bargain. Harrelson admitted to driving Gibian away from the crime scene and helping to hide the murder weapon in February of 2005.
Harrelson faces five years probation and up to 90 days behind bars, but it's the deal's mandatory drug rehabilitation program that makes his father happy. Bud Harrelson says he has tried to get his son to agree to rehab for some time, and is grateful for the judge's mandate. Sentencing is scheduled for March 6.
