While $100 in fees on red light tickets in Nassau County was deemed illegal, a judge has said Nassau County does not have to repay those fees because they were "voluntary."

News 12 spoke to residents who disagreed with the decision. Gregg Kaufman, of Island Park, said, “It’s Nassau County stealing from us as usual.”

Attorney David Raimondo, who represents a man fighting the fees, said he will be appealing this decision.

Raimondo told News 12, “Nassau County should do the right thing, and admit that they were wrong and reimburse their own citizens for their unlawful conduct.”

A spokesperson with the Nassau County Executive’s Office declined News 12's request for an interview.
