Farmingdale residents who say they were forced out of their homes because they are Latino can proceed with a housing discrimination suit, a federal judge has ruled.
The Village of Farmingdale tried to get the residents' lawsuit thrown out of court, but a court ruling Tuesday denied the village's motion.
The residents allege they were evicted in 2006 from their apartments on 150 Secatogue Ave. and that the building was knocked down.
AnaMarie Mora and her neighbors say they each received about $16,000 in a settlement with the developer, but the ongoing lawsuit charges the village only wanted them out because they're Hispanic.
Mora says she has always believed the village was involved. Farmingdale officials have denied knowing about the alleged discrimination.
Farmingdale Mayor George Starkie calls the lawsuit "frivolous" but refused further comment because of the ongoing litigation.
