A faulty alarm system caused a judge to temporarily close the Nassau County Family Court building Friday after a series of unnecessary evacuations.
Nassau Family Court Judge Anthony Morano closed the facility after the 11th false alarm in less than two weeks.
?This building does not meet today?s code by any manner,? said Lance Clark, of the Nassau County Bar Association.
A contractor has been dispatched to fix the problem. In the meantime, a skeleton staff was on hand to handle emergency applications.
Chief Deputy County Executive John Donnelly said the building will reopen for business Monday with safety officials on hand, regardless of the alarm system?s repair status.
