Jones Beach officials are expecting about 50,000 visitors this weekend as temperatures rocket into the 80s.
Temperatures could possibly hit a record-breaking 85 degrees Sunday. The expected crowd is typical for the first week of June, not the end of April.
Sunbathers and beachgoers will get an early start on summer fun, but the economy could make the scene at Jones Beach extremely different when the summer actually comes.
State budget cuts will close the West End 2 beach and the east bath house pool in the coming months. Additionally, Field One will only be open for three major weekends. Zach's Bay will also have a shortened season.
