It was a night filled with nostalgia and memorabilia, all for a good cause at Mulcahey's in Wantagh.
The John Thiessen Children's Foundation hosted its 28th annual Holiday Gala.
The organization held multiple auctions and raffles for sports memorabilia, Broadway tickets, and other items.
VIP guests got the opportunity to meet and get autographs from New York Giants champions Plaxico Burress and Pepper Johnson, former New York Knick Larry Johnson, and former Mets and Yankees infielder Todd Zeile.
Before the night’s main program, organizers reflected on why this event continues to make such a big impact.
"I do this every year because my mission, since I survived a brain tumor, is to help sick and underprivileged kids all across Long Island," said John Thiessen, the founder of the organization. "Proceeds from tonight also go directly to the foundation and allows us to help out the kids throughout the year."
Thiessen says the event raises over $100,000 each year.
He says the foundation is also in the middle of collecting new and unwrapped toys for their annual toy drive.
