JFK Middle School football game raises funds for students battling cancer

Organizers of the event say nearly a dozen students in the Comsewogue School District have been diagnosed with cancer.

The Comsewogue community came together Thursday to support students in the school district battling cancer. The last home football game for John F. Kennedy Middle School was used to help raise funds for those children.
Organizers of the event say nearly a dozen students in the Comsewogue School District have been diagnosed with cancer. They say the fundraiser at the game is meant to student that students battling the disease are not alone and the school community has their back.
Nine-year-old Tenzin Tanaka was recently diagnosed with a form of leukemia.
“I’m glad people are trying to spread awareness for us,” Tanaka says.
