New York Jets star and Freeport native D'Brickashaw Ferguson made his retirement official Thursday.
Ferguson held a news conference about his retirement at the Jets headquarters in New Jersey.
Many of his former teammates were on hand as he met the media for the final time.
For 10 years, Ferguson protected the blind side of whomever the Jets starting quarterback was.
He played in 170 games, and missed only one snap in more than 10,000.
