Jay Z tops Grammy Awards nominees in nine categories

Music stars are gearing up for the Grammy Awards this Sunday, and Jay Z leads the pack with nine nominations.
After Jay Z's nine nominations, Kendrick Lamar, Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams are next with seven nominations each. Macklemore and Lamar are both up for album of the year for 'The Heist' and 'good kid, m.A.A.d city' respectively. Rounding out the category for best alum of the year are Sara Bareilles for 'The Blessed Unrest,' Daft Punk for 'Random Access Memories' and Taylor Swift for 'Red.'
In the record of the year category, 'Get Lucky,' 'Radioactive,' 'Royals,' 'Locked out of Heaven' and summer hit 'Blurred Lines are vying for the Grammy. Newcomers, James Blake, Lamar, Macklemore, Kacey Musgraves and Ed Sheeran are up for the best new artist award.
The list of performers is pretty impressive with big acts such as Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, Metallica, Katy Perry and Robin Thicke. Presenters include many of the nominees as well as Ryan Seacrest and Steven Tyler. The show airs live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles Sunday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
