The superintendent of the Islip School District wrote a letter of apology for taking photos of on-duty female lifeguards.
Dennis O'Hara admitted to taking the pictures while he worked as a lifeguard at Robert Moses State Park.
O'Hara initially said he sent a photo of one lifeguard to the state, saying they were not in an official uniform. He later apologized to the school board and community for "creating this distraction."
In the new letter sent Friday, he says his apology was insufficient and should have been more direct.
