Islip town officials say a proposed senior living facility will be granted up to $5.1 million in tax breaks for its construction.
The facility will replace a local bowling alley. While some residents are unhappy to see East Islip Lanes close, many are glad seniors will have a place to live.
“Create more choices for people to live and thrive and be able to be taken care of. That's really important,” said Rev. Al Warren, of Commack.
Officials say the living facility will house around 100 people.
News 12 is waiting to hear back from the bowling alley and the company behind the living facility’s proposal.
