A group of Long Islanders suited up in scuba gear and wetsuits to take a dive with sharks for charity.

People’s Arc of Suffolk and Rise Life Services co-hosted its second annual "Shark Tank Showdown" on Tuesday.

Six of the night's fundraisers entered the tank at Atlantis Aquarium in Riverhead, coming up close and personal with the massive animals.

The event raised money to support programs for kids and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

"This is about giving them the opportunity to live a life just like you and I,” said Jeanette Permenter, CEO of Rise Life Services.

The dives were broadcast on large screens so people that were having dinner could watch.

The event raised more than $70,000 for the two organizations.
