The Islanders announced Friday that the team and star defenseman Adam Pelech agreed to an 8-year contract.
Elliotte Friedman reported that Pelech's deal was worth $5.75 million per year.
Pelech's deal is among the first roster news to trickle out from the Islanders since free agency started. 
Pelech was a restricted free agent.
