Islandia veteran pulls man from burning car in Hauppauge

A veteran from Islandia went above the call of duty on Long Island.Police say Brian Ivory saved a man by pulling him from a burning car. The accident happened Sunday morning on Old Nichols Road in Hauppauge.

A veteran from Islandia went above the call of duty on Long Island.Police say Brian Ivory saved a man by pulling him from a burning car. The accident happened Sunday morning on Old Nichols Road in Hauppauge. Police say 24-year-old Winston Decoteau of Brentwood lost control of his car and hit a utility pole. Ivory says he was driving by when he saw the burning car and stopped to rescue Decoteau.Both men were taken to Stony Brook Medical Center. Decoteau was treated for burns from the incident and Ivory received treatment for smoke inhalation.
