A massive food drive was held Monday in East Garden City to help feed the hungry on Long Island.Staff members for Island Harvest and volunteers were busy since around 3:30 a.m. Monday to help load up trucks. The organization says it expected to have nearly two dozen trucks filled with about 300,000 pounds of food and cleaning supplies.Island Harvest says it has received a significant increase in demand for assistance due to the current state of the economy.
