Preps underway for Long Island’s first ever Ironman race

A total of 3,800 athletes from around the world are coming to Jones Beach this weekend for the race.

Festivities are set to begin later today for Long Island’s first-ever Ironman series race.
A total of 3,800 athletes from around the world are coming to Jones Beach this weekend for the race.
The race includes swimming in Zach’s Bay, a 56-mile bike ride along Wantagh Parkway and a 13-mile run on the Jones Beach boardwalk.
News 12 Storm Watch Team meteorologists say the weather will be rainy, but event organizers say it will be held rain or shine.
The Ironman Village Expo opens to the public tonight and will be held at Field 5.
