Town of Brookhaven officials have dedicated a Medford intersection in honor of a man killed in a tragic crash in September.

The corner of Peconic and Old Medford avenues has been renamed for Chris White. The 44-year-old was riding his motorcycle with a veterans' group escorting a 92-year-old World War II veteran to MacArthur Airport back in September when he was hit by a car.

White was pronounced dead at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. Police say the driver of the car, 55-year-old Paul Porrini of Selden, was high on drugs when he ran a red light and hit White and three other cars.

White's friends attended the dedication and said no one deserves the honor more than he does.
