With more retailers offering holiday sales all month, Black Friday is turning into Black November.

Stores are already slashing prices a week ahead of Thanksgiving. Retail analyst Marshal Cohen, of the NPD Group, says the holiday sales season has basically become a monthlong event thanks to days like Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday.

"Between competing online and competing with each other with trying to get their share of the business, retailers are looking at trying to figure out how to make holiday sales earlier and earlier so they can get their share of the pie," says Cohen.

Analysts believe more early Black Friday sales will probably be the norm in the future.

"If you look at the progression of what's happened over the last five years, just picture where we are going to be 5 years from now," says Cohen. "The entire month of November will be on sale."
