(10/20/06) MINEOLA - Another day passed Friday and Nassau police say they are no closer to identifying a girl's body found shot to death in Roosevelt.
Police say the girl found in a wooded Roosevelt area Wednesday morning was between 15 and 20 years old. Officials say she remains a Jane Doe. They have circulated a sketch of the girl's face to schools and regional forces. Investigators say they are baffled because nobody locally, so far, has reported a missing person that fits her description. A neighbor near the wooded area says police have not left the site since finding the body. Police are unsure if the girl died at that location, or was moved after being shot elsewhere.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
