It’s New Year’s Eve and tonight many Long Islanders will head into the city for the biggest celebration in the world.
The iconic ball was tested yesterday before it drops tonight in Times Square.
The ball has more than 2,600 crystals and weighs nearly 12,000 pounds.
This year's design celebrates the "gift of goodwill."
More than 1 billion people are expected to watch when the ball drops at midnight.
Meanwhile, a Long Island village is holding a celebration of the final day of the decade.
The annual Midnight on Main celebration is happening tonight on West Main Street in Patchogue.
It's billed as a free, family-friendly event that kicks off at 7 p.m. and includes a DJ and fireworks.
