A 4-year-old girl fell through the gap at a Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) platform at Penn Station Wednesday.
Police were able to rescue Britney Walker from the tracks about 15 minutes after she fell. The toddler suffered only minor cuts and bruises.
Walker is not the first victim to fall through, what some call, the large gap on LIRR platforms. The LIRR first came under fire when an 18-year-old was killed after falling through a gap at the Woodside station.
The LIRR insists it's taking this problem seriously. Officials say the LIRR is working closely with the National Transportation Safety Board to assess passenger concerns.Related Information: LIRR, Metro-North platforms to get gap safety inspection
