Huntington Station residents geared up for another fight Tuesday as a well-known catering hall edges towards its final meal.
Home improvement store Lowe's is attempting to purchase and knock down Huntington Townhouse caterers on Jericho Turnpike. However, neighbors are vehemently opposed to the retail chain coming to town. Residents, who earlier rallied to reject a proposed condominium development, say the hills of Jericho Turnpike are not conducive to increased traffic and would cause additional accidents.
Huntington Town Councilman Mark Cuthbertson says an environmental review must take place before any deal is approved. Some residents suggested a park be constructed when Huntington Townhouse closes.
Representatives from Huntington Townhouse and Lowe's did not return calls to comment.
