Residents in the Huntington Station community are calling for a response to a wave of violent crimes in their area.
Community activist Matt Harris says there have been at least a dozen murders in the past two years that are all unsolved. He says county and town officials need to do more to end the violence.
The latest incident happened last week. The body of 18-year-old Maggie Rosales was found face-down on Lynch Street last Sunday. The case remains unsolved.
"I want to know what 2nd Precinct and Suffolk County police are doing to solve all these crimes, all these violent shootings and stabbings," Harris says.
News 12 placed several calls to County Executive Steve Bellone's office for a response, but has not yet heard back.
Organizers expect hundreds to turn out for a rally tomorrow called "Maggie Matters," in honor of Rosales. They plan to gather at Hecksher Park and march across the street to Town Hall to make a statement about crime.
