Residents who have received robocalls claiming they have won a free cruise may be eligible for a cash settlement.
The telemarketing agency in charge of the calls is now the focus of a class-action lawsuit. The company made the calls on behalf of Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean cruise lines.
Attorneys who sued the company set up a website to check telephone numbers against ones called by the marketers. They say the calls were placed between July 2009 and March 2014.
Craig Haas, of Huntington, says his home phone lines plus three of his family's cellphone numbers were on the list, even though he's on the National Do Not Call Registry. He filed a claim and could be due up to $3,600.
