Hundreds of survivors gathered Monday for a summit on the eve of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The third annual Long Island Breast Cancer Summit took place in Baldwin, and featured remarks from guest speaker Cynthia Nixon, of "Sex and the City" fame. She was joined by cancer survivors, support groups and health officials, all of whom attended to learn about and educate others on the latest research in the field.

Around 30 advocacy groups participated in the forum.
