Most main roads may look well-plowed and safe for travel, but many neighborhood side roads have not been fully plowed.
Residents on Cherry Avenue in Holtsville say plows came through Sunday evening but haven’t been back since. Now there are tracks where cars have attempted to get out of the neighborhood without getting stuck.
“That’s my biggest concern is how do we go to work tomorrow?” said Peter Brown, of Holtsville. “You know people do have to make a living.”
“It’s never been like this. This is nuts,” said David Neidig of Holtsville. “This is mind boggling. But it’s snow...You can’t be down the dumps about it. It isn’t going to go anywhere.”
People who are shoveling or using snowblowers say that the sooner residents clear their driveways and sidewalks, the better. Waiting until later makes the snow heavier and more icy.
