Officials say veterans on the East End will soon be able to get the health care they need without having to travel to the Northport VA.
Rep. Lee Zeldin announced today that the Peconic Bay Medical Center's campus in Manorville will provide comprehensive and convenient health care to veterans.
The campus is still being built, but a new facility will provide specialized services, including mental health services. The facility will be open seven days a week, according to Zeldin.
"The idea behind this program is to park your car, get just about everything done and get inside your car and go home," said Dr. George Reuggerio, of Peconic Bay Medical Center.
Zeldin says it didn't take any additional federal funding to provide services to veterans at the facility.
