Staff tell News 12 the outpouring of support is a great step towards equality.
"Hope is when you actually take a proactive step and I think this was a proactive step," said Dr. Jennifer Mieres, a cardiologist at the hospital.
Northwell Health officials say workers at their other locations also took a knee to support equality.
