A group of veterans who shared the trip of a lifetime reunited in Farmingdale on Saturday.
The war heroes who took part in Honor Flight Long Island came together at the American Airpower Museum.
The museum helped organize a trip to Washington, D.C. for dozens of veterans back in May.
The veterans visited the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War memorials.
Organizers said the trip helps the veterans make peace with their past.
"For the first time, these veterans have the opportunity to open up about their experiences during those critical periods when the U.S. was at war," said Bill Jones, president of Honor Flight Long Island.
Honor Flight is a nationwide effort that all started in 2007 and happens every year. On Long Island alone, more than 2,000 veterans have been able to make the trip.
