(11/08/06) COPIAGUE - Suffolk police say a homeless man was found stabbed to death in a wooded area near the Copiague train station Wednesday.
According to police, a person walking near the station around 7:20 a.m. discovered 50-year-old Stefan Stefanowicz laying dead on a mattress in the woods. Investigators have not yet released details on where or how many times Stefanowicz was stabbed. Police say they are unsure when the victim was killed.
Thus far, police have made no arrests and no suspects have been identified. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS (8477).
