News 12's Elizabeth Hashagen visited Elwood Pumpkin Farm in Huntington to get some tips on how to pick the perfect tree.
The trick to keep your tree fresh for a long time is to buy a fresh tree and water. The best place to get a fresh tree is a cut-your-own farm.
But if you buy a prepackaged tree, you can tell if it's fresh by scratching a bit of the branch - if there's some green the tree is fresh.
If you wrap your finger around a branch, and it bends, without breaking, the tree is also fresh.
