Hofstra University has canceled classes for the week starting Monday after a student reported having flu-like symptoms.

The school says the student reported their symptoms Sunday after they attended a conference with someone who tested positive for coronavirus.

News 12 is told the student is in isolation and being tested. Officials say six people who were in close contact with the student have also been asked to self-isolate until results of the test come back.

School officials say they are enhancing their disinfecting procedures on campus.

Administrative offices, resident halls, dining halls and all student services will remain open. However, officials say any employee having flu-like symptoms should stay home.

The university set up a website for more information on this case. It says that spring break will still begin on March 14.
