The historic Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation.
Opened in 1923, the building has a seating capacity for 1,166 guests. It's the largest theater of its kind in Suffolk County, with an estimated 150,000 people attending shows and concerts each year.
Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri says he hopes the renovated theater will bring more visitors to the village's already active downtown area.
The renovation is expected to be completed in March.
Performances at the theater will start again in April.
