Hillary Clinton officially launched her 2016 presidential campaign Saturday afternoon with a rally on Roosevelt Island.
The event in Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park marked Clinton's first since announcing her bid for the Democratic nomination two months ago.
In a speech, Clinton referenced her mother, saying she played a large role in her ambitions to become commander in chief. She also called for paid family leave and stressed the need to support everyday Americans left behind by the post-recession economy.
"Prosperity can't be just for CEOs and hedge fund managers," Clinton said during her speech. "Democracy can't be just for billionaires and corporations. Prosperity and democracy are part of your basic bargain, too. "
Clinton's husband and former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea Clinton were in attendance.
