A high school basketball referee gave a big thank you to multiple people who helped save his life.
Joe Gaskin collapsed on the court while refereeing a Nassau boys basketball game just over a week ago.
Gaskin almost died after suffering from cardiac arrest.
Last night, Gaskin honored the five people who saved him.
Wantagh Athletic Director Jen Keane used an AED to restart his heart.
Plaques were also given to a doctor and three nurses in the crowd who rushed on the court to perform CPR.
Tiffany Vargas, a cardiac nurse, say it is a reminder about the importance of having an AED in all public places.
