Hicks Nurseries is hosting a winter houseplant swap this weekend at their nursery in Westbury.

This is a great event if you have too many plants in your collection and want to grow something or are looking to meet other people in the houseplant growing community.

Beginner gardeners are welcome too! In addition to a negotiation table for plant swaps, there will be a free table where gardeners can put plants they want to give away or find a new plant to take home.

Participants can bring up to five pest-free houseplants or cuttings to trade or give away. Make sure to label your plants ahead of time.

The event starts on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m., but it's encouraged to arrive before 11 a.m. to set up and view what other participants have bought.
