The Town of Hempstead is offering happy couples a new way to get married during the age of the pandemic.
It unveiled a new ceremony venue located outside of Town Hall. The town also previewed additional venue options that included parks and beaches.
Town Clerk Kate Murray says beach weddings she had presided over in the past were the inspiration for the idea.
"I thought what was aesthetically pleasing 17 years ago is now socially responsible and safe," she told News 12.
Hempstead has offered other marriage services during the pandemic.
Murray says since March 16, the town has issued 345 marriage licenses from its drive-thru office and has conducted 109 virtual weddings.
