A Hempstead man was struck and killed by a car in Oceanside early Saturday morning.

Police say 53-year-old Adrian Wilburne was crossing Merrick Road near Oceanside Road when he was hit by a driver heading east around 2 a.m.

According to police, Wilburne suffered serious head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the male driver stayed at the scene.
