A health workshop was held for school representatives at Eastern Suffolk BOCES in Holbrook Thursday in an effort learn more about fighting infectious diseases.
Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. James L. Tomarken led the workshop for more than 100 school district representatives from about 50 school districts.
The event was held to ensure that district officials are knowledgeable about the risks of illnesses such as enterovirus D68, Ebola and the flu.
This year, four children under the age of 9 came down with the enterovirus in Suffolk. There was one confirmed case in Nassau County.
