Health officials: Feral cat, raccoon found in Valley Stream test positive for rabies

A separate feral cat found in Cedarhurst tested positive for rabies in July.

The Nassau Health Department has reported two new cases of rabies in the county, one in a feral cat and the other in a raccoon.
Both animals that tested positive for the disease were found in Valley Stream.
A separate feral cat found in Cedarhurst tested positive for rabies in July.
The Health Department urges residents to ensure their pets are up to date on rabies vaccinations and to keep children away from unknown animals.
