Police say more than two dozen headstones were damaged at two cemeteries in Southampton.
As many as 32 gravestones were knocked over or damaged at the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery and at the neighboring Southampton Cemetery.
Police say the stones were damaged sometime during the extended Labor Day weekend, between Saturday, Sept. 3 and Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Some of the stones date back to the 1800s. A local funeral home and monument company have volunteered to repair the damaged stones for free.
No arrests have been made. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Southampton town police.
